Jewels of the Shangpa Kagyu Lineage

The originators and masters of the Shangpa Kagyu lineage

In this seven-session series, with meditation, teaching, amazing images and songs of realization, Lama Döndrup leads an exploration of the meaning of lineage and the originators and masters of the Shangpa Kagyu lineage. Each session is approximately an hour long.

A lineage is the line of practitioners through whom a collections of teachings is passed in an unbroken, successive way thereby ensuring that the teachings and practices remain, accurate, vital, and alive through the passage of time.

The Shangpa Kagyu Lineage is unique in that it originated with two awakened Kashmiri women, Sukhasiddhi and Niguma. The profound teachings of these wisdom dakinis (highly accomplished female practitioners) are pithy, elegant, and penetrate straight to the heart of the matter, making them an accessible, relevant, and efficacious method as we engage in the world today.

Through meditation, teachings, and discussion, we explore the masters who have carried this unbroken stream of teachings from the 11th century to us today.

Each session includes downloadable video and audio recordings and related handouts of prayers and songs of realization.

Lama Döndrup

Lama Döndrup is the Resident Lama of Sukhasiddhi Foundation overseeing the curriculum and offerings at Sukhasiddhi in collaboration with the lamas and dharma leaders on the teachers council. She has practiced and studied in the Buddhist tradition for over twenty five years. In 2005, she completed a traditional three-year retreat and was authorized as a lama. Upon her return to Marin County, she began teaching classes and leading meditations at Sukhasiddhi Foundation, and in 2020 was authorized by Lama Palden Drolma as Resident Lama. Lama Döndrup is honored to guide students through all stages of the spiritual journey; helping them to feel confident in their own understanding of practices and teachings; and supporting the natural unfolding of their innate wisdom and compassion.
